About Ontario Equine Hospital

Our Story

The Ontario Equine Hospital was founded July of 1996. This facility operated out of Humber College as part of the Equine Studies program which was offered at that time. The veterinarians had a teaching responsibility to the students and also ran continuing education classes in the evenings. In 1995, the college decided to no longer offer an Equine Studies curriculum. Dr. Bonder was forced to look for another location to house the practice and enable him to pursue his love of equine surgery. A suitable building was found minutes off the grounds of Woodbine Racetrack. The building was purchased, completely gutted and had a barn added on. The Ontario Equine Hospital houses office space, a library / board room, operating theatre, 2 drop and recovery stalls, a nuclear medicine suite, a procedures room and barn capable of housing 7 horses. Our goal is to provide high quality, innovative, and compassionate care in equine medicine and surgery.
